Story

This week was very exciting as. with the help of my coursemates, I finally have a title for my film! It's called 'A Midnight Tale' and to celebrate I will share with you the premise of the story. As we're limited to making a 90 second film, it ends on a 'to be continued' note, even though I had the whole story scripted and conceptualised. Hopefully it will leave you wanting to know what happens next!

I also finalised the designs of my characters this week. Here are their expression sheets:

Mouse Studies

As I've been designing the character of my mouse, he has become more and more cartoony; something I don't necessarily want. As such I did a lot of studies of real mice to return in style to a more realistic mouse.

Promo Images

Well everyone, it's been an incredibly exciting week this week, largely due to the fact that I've finished my animatic! I can now see my film on screen! For you today I have two quick promo images (digitally painted over thumbnail storyboard sketches) to give you a taste of what I want the film to look like.

A Grand Day Out

The other day we had the pleasure of visiting Bourton-on-the-Water on a trip with the Uni. Located in the Cotswolds, the place is filled with pretty stone cottages and surrounded by green landscapes. I grew up in the Cotswolds and so returning to them from Cardiff was a lot like going home.

The main purpose of the trip was to see the model village; a one-ninth scale replica of Bourton-on-the-Water. Not only was it inspiring for the stop-motion students to see the models, but it was great for everyone to draw from. Equally it was amusing to see 'model-ception' as there is a model of the model village within the model village!

Being in the UK however, the weather decided to be temperamental and so there was only a limited amount of drawing that we could do between downpours. Ah well, we had a great time, enjoyed the pub and came back to Cardiff in high spirits!
